What Markdown Diff actually does to your file
The comparison is line-based and works on any text, not only Markdown - there is no validation step that rejects a file. That makes it dependable for a hand-written document where each sentence sits on its own line, but it cannot tell you that a heading moved, that emphasis changed inside a paragraph, or that a list item was re-nested: a small wording change and a whole new paragraph both appear as one replaced line. Re-wrapped prose reads as a large diff, so compare versions that share a line style.
