How to use Rotate Image
- Load one or more images.
- Choose 0°, 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise or 180°; the highlighted preset is the angle that gets written, and the preview updates before anything is saved.
- Use the Custom Rotation slider (-180 to 180) when the horizon is tilted rather than the image being on its side - the readout shows the exact angle.
- Set format and quality, then press Rotate & Download; several files arrive as one zip.
What Rotate Image actually does to your file
A 90° or 270° turn swaps the width and height of the output, so a 4000x3000 photo comes back 3000x4000 rather than with its corners shaved off. Any other angle enlarges the canvas to fit the whole turned picture and leaves transparent corners, which export white on JPEG because JPEG has no alpha - a 300x200 test frame turned 45° came back 354x354 with white (255,255,255) corners, not black ones; use PNG if you need them clear. Saving a JPEG again re-encodes it, so a rotate costs one generation of quality; keep quality at 90 or above if you rotate several times. Original keeps JPEG, PNG and WebP sources in their own container, while a GIF, BMP, SVG or TIFF is rotated into a PNG because the browser cannot write those formats back, so an animated GIF arrives as a single frame - and the file is named .png for exactly that reason. If one file in a batch cannot be decoded the rest still come back, with the skipped names listed in the message at the end.
Rotate Image FAQ
What does Rotate Image do?
Rotate supported images by the available angle or orientation controls. Preview the result and download the edited files.
Which files work with Rotate Image?
This category commonly supports JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, and SVG. Use the accepted file types shown in the uploader, because support varies by browser and by the engine behind each tool.
Can I rotate by an angle other than 90 degrees?
Use the custom angle for straightening a horizon or a scanned page. Non-right angles add padding or crop the corners, so review the preview before downloading.
Will my original file be changed?
No. The work is done on a copy in this tab by the canvas and the codecs built into your browser, and the result arrives as a separate download, so your original is still there if you need it.
How is my file processed?
It is not uploaded. The processing is done locally by the canvas and the codecs built into your browser, so the practical ceiling is your device's memory and the limit shown beside the uploader - no queue, no account, no copy on a server.
Is the Rotate Image free?
Yes. The Rotate Image is free with no trial limit, subscription, or watermark on downloads. You can use it for personal and commercial projects without creating an account.
