How to use Resize Image
- Add the images you want to resize; several files are processed in one pass and arrive as one zip.
- Pick a mode: Percentage scales both sides from the original (1% to 400%), Pixels lets you type an exact width and height, and Aspect Ratio fits the picture into a square, banner or story box.
- While Lock Aspect Ratio is ticked, typing one side rewrites the other - on a 1600 x 1200 photo, width 1200 fills in height 900 by itself.
- Untick the lock only when you deliberately want a fixed banner box: a 1600 x 1200 photo forced to 1200 x 200 comes back as a 1200 x 200 strip with everything stretched.
- Set output format and quality, then press Resize & Download.
What Resize Image actually does to your file
Resizing happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, and the output is always re-encoded once: at the default 85% quality a 1600 x 1200 JPEG came back as a 12 kB 1200 x 900 JPEG, and a JPEG that has been resized and saved twice has lost two generations of detail. Downscaling is safe; enlarging is interpolation, so a 200% copy has four times the pixels and no more sharpness - 400% is available but only useful for flattening logos. Original keeps JPEG, PNG and WebP in their own container, while a GIF, BMP, SVG or TIFF source is written back as a still PNG because browsers cannot encode those, and the tool names the files it had to convert; an animated GIF therefore arrives as one frame. Clear all empties the list without reloading the page, so your size and quality settings survive.
