How to use Favicon Generator
- Select a square PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG source - 512x512 or larger keeps the 16 and 32 px sizes readable.
- Generate Favicon Kit resamples that one file into 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 px, each fitted into a transparent square and previewed on the page.
- Copy the HTML block with the button under the previews, or take the same three lines from favicon.html inside the ZIP.
- Download favicon-kit.zip. The favicon.ico inside carries the 16, 32 and 48 px entries; the larger sizes stay as separate PNG files.
What Favicon Generator actually does to your file
Icons are resampled down, never up, so a small or busy source becomes mush at 16x16 - simplify the artwork rather than raising the size. A non-square picture is letterboxed on the two shorter sides, which is why a wide logo has transparent bands in the tab. Browsers cache favicons aggressively, so a change may need a hard refresh or a new filename to appear.
