JSON to XML
Use JSON to XML, review the result, and keep the original until the output is checked.
How to use JSON to XML
- Paste JSON into the right pane, or XML into the left, and use the arrow buttons to choose which direction to convert.
- For XML to JSON, keep the document well formed; a stray unclosed tag stops the conversion.
- Check how attributes, repeated elements and mixed text landed in the JSON before you reuse it in code.
- Copy the result or Download edittools_data.xml / edittools_data.json.
What JSON to XML actually does to your file
The mapping is structural and lossy in the XML to JSON direction: attributes, namespaces, CDATA, comments and an element that mixes text with children are folded together or dropped, so markup that carries meaning in those places should be converted with a tool that models them. Element-versus-array is guessed, which means a repeated element becomes an array but a single occurrence becomes an object - so a file that round-trips can change shape without any error. Values come back as strings, with <age>30</age> reading as "age": "30" in the JSON. Going from JSON, keys that XML cannot use as element names - a space, a leading digit, a leading "xml" - are rewritten with underscores and the note above the panes lists what changed, and several top-level keys or a top-level array are wrapped in a root element. Keys that start with an underscore become attributes and a __text key becomes element text, which is how the two directions line up. The wrapper element and indentation differ from the XML produced by the JSON Convert page, so pick one route per project.
JSON to XML FAQ
What does JSON to XML do?
Free online JSON to XML converter with HTTPS security. Also converts XML to JSON. Fast, in‑browser and large‑file support.
Which files work with JSON to XML?
This page converts in both directions, so it accepts JSON or XML. The exact types and per-file limit are shown beside the controls.
What can I change with this tool?
The controls on this page define the scope. Anything the format supports but the tool does not expose will be left as it came in.
Will my original file be changed?
No. You paste text or open a file to read it, the result appears in the other pane, and only what you copy or download leaves the page.
