How to use PDF Metadata Editor
- Select PDF Files and load the documents whose details you want to change.
- Press Edit Metadata and fill any of Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator and Producer; put comma-separated terms in Keywords.
- Set Creation Date and Modification Date as calendar dates, and write a longer note in Description.
- Use Apply to All Files to copy one set of values across the batch, Remove Selected to drop a file, then Download All for <name>_metadata.pdf.
What PDF Metadata Editor actually does to your file
What is written is the document information dictionary that readers show in their file properties, so the visible pages, text and layout are not altered at all. Two behaviours are worth knowing: a field you leave empty keeps whatever the file already had, so to erase a value you must overwrite it, and Description shares the same underlying entry as Subject, so filling both leaves the last one applied. Dates keep the day but not the clock time, and the panel does not show you the current values in advance - use the viewer page first if you need to see what is already there. Everything runs locally in the browser.
PDF Metadata Editor FAQ
What does PDF Metadata Editor do?
Use our free online PDF metadata editor to quickly change details like Author, Title, Keywords, and more. It’s fast, easy, and requires no sign-up!
Which files work with PDF Metadata Editor?
This category commonly supports PDF and exported JPG or PNG pages. Use the accepted file types shown in the uploader, because support varies by browser and by the engine behind each tool.
Should I strip metadata before sharing?
If the file is going to a public audience, yes: remove location, device and author fields. Editing tools usually rewrite only some tags, so check the result rather than assuming.
Will my original file be changed?
No. The work is done on a copy in this tab by pdf.js and pdf-lib, and the result arrives as a separate download, so your original is still there if you need it.
How is my file processed?
It is not uploaded. The processing is done locally by pdf.js and pdf-lib, so the practical ceiling is your device's memory and the limit shown beside the uploader - no queue, no account, no copy on a server.
Is the PDF Metadata Editor free?
Yes. The PDF Metadata Editor is free with no trial limit, subscription, or watermark on downloads. You can use it for personal and commercial projects without creating an account.
