What is Online PDF Rotator?
Online PDF Rotator is a tool that rotates PDF documents in the local browser, without any upload to the server-side. It supports some JavaScript libraries such as PDF.js and PDFLib to provide accurate page manipulation with a conversion limit of up to 50MB. The user interface provides the option to either rotate a single page or all pages in a document. Interchangeably, the orientation of the given page or document can be changed and saved without loss of quality.
How To Get Started In Using PDF Rotator?
Step 1 Upload Files
Click on the "Select PDF Files" button or drag and drop your files onto the upload area. Several files may be selected, but non-PDF format files will be rejected-notifications will state such clearly.
Step 2 Configure Rotation Properties
Select the rotation from three provided settings: 90° clockwise, 180°, or 90° counter-clockwise either from dropdowns or visual rotation buttons; to rotate page(s) select range(s):
- Check Apply to All Pages to rotate the whole document
- Uncheck Apply to All Pages and input page ranges (e.g. "1-3,5,7-10") for orientation changes to occur only on select pages.
Step 3 Choose Output Quality
Choose one of the following:
- High Quality: No compression at all and hence preserves every element within the document
- Medium Quality: A balance of quality against filesize reduction
- Low Quality: Maximum compression for minimum filesize
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I rotate only select pages in a PDF?
Uncheck the "Apply to All Pages"; enter the page numbers in the field beneath (e.g. 1-3, 5, 7-10). This will apply rotation to pages 1-3, 5 and 7-10, leaving others in their original orientation and enabling having this function of the tool intact; hence no software installation requirement.
Does rotation affect PDF's quality?
In High Quality output mode, all elements maintain intact with no compression. In Medium Quality, you accept compression, but only to the extent that the document remains readable. In Low Quality, maximum compression is applied at the expense of document readability. All rotations retain the integrity of vector contents: texts remain searchable; images retain resolutions.
How can I rotate a PDF and save the changes permanently?
The rotated files are saved with the tool; if used consecutively, the file names will be prefixed by "_rotated.pdf" to the original file name. When you press Convert, the engine runs as a converter, embedding updated orientation information into the PDF metadata, but your changes will only be saved in the downloaded file, thus creating a permanent record of your rotation alteration.
What kind of files does this tool allow for rotation?
It accepts documents with standard .pdf extensions as well as .PDF. The tool would issue a notification for unknown file types: "File [name] is not a PDF file and will be skipped." This ensures only proper documents proceed to the queue for processing and maintains efficiency throughout the procedure.
How do I rotate a PDF online without software installation?
Being browser-based, just visit the tool's URL for rotating documents. No installation of any plug-ins or software required. You provide no registration information. The whole procedure is done in-memory, meaning that nothing is uploaded to any server. This in itself is an ideal scenario for quick rotation just in case fast answers to "how to rotate a PDF" are needed.
Can I rotate password-protected PDFs?
Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed by this tool. Trying to upload the protected files will produce errors in the browser's console and would show "Error" on status indicators. To rotate these securely, remove the encryption of the document first through the settings of your PDF reader, followed by running this tool.
